Telemedicine in West Virginia
En español: Telemedicina en Virginia Occidental para bajar de peso, en español.
Charleston, Huntington and Morgantown hold what specialty care the state has. West Virginia is mountainous and rural nearly everywhere else, and the roads are slow.
Telemedicine does not follow the roads. A licensed physician reviews your case from Morgantown to McDowell County.
What telemedicine can do
- Review of your medical history by a licensed physician
- Determination of whether a weight management program is appropriate for you
- Lab orders through Quest or Labcorp when the physician considers them necessary
- Dose adjustments and follow-up during the program
- Shipping from a licensed pharmacy to your home
What it CANNOT do
This matters as much as the list above:
- An emergency. Chest pain, trouble breathing, confusion — that is 911, today, not an online consult.
- A physical exam. Some things need hands.
- Replace your primary care physician. This is a complement, not a substitute.
How it works, step by step
- 1. You choose your program and start. You create an account and complete a medical form online. It takes a few minutes.
- 2. A licensed physician reviews your case — habits, stress, sleep and medical history.
- 3. If they consider it necessary, they order labs. Labs are not automatic and not required for everyone. The physician decides.
- 4. If treatment is appropriate, a licensed pharmacy ships it to your door. Discreetly. Most people receive their first order within a week.
- 5. Follow-up. Dose adjustments when needed, and support for as long as your program runs.
In some states a brief telehealth appointment may be required before a prescription is issued, at no additional cost.
No waiting rooms
You do not drive the hollows for a twenty-minute visit.
You complete the form when you can — at night, on a Sunday, on your break — and a licensed physician reviews it, usually within one business day.
