What is GLP-1?
A plain-language explanation of the hormone behind modern weight treatment.
GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) is a hormone your body produces naturally after you eat. It helps regulate blood sugar, slows stomach emptying, and sends fullness signals to your brain.
Semaglutide activates GLP-1 receptors. Tirzepatide activates both GIP and GLP-1 receptors. Both can influence appetite, blood-sugar regulation, and food intake, but they work through somewhat different pathways.
These are prescription medications. They are not appropriate for everyone and require a medical evaluation: history, existing conditions, potential risks, and ongoing follow-up.
If you want to know whether a GLP-1 program is appropriate for you, a licensed provider in our network can evaluate you from home.
