Telemedicine in North Carolina
En español: Telemedicina en Carolina del Norte para bajar de peso, en español.
The Triangle and Charlotte have strong medical systems. The mountains in the west and the coastal plain in the east are a different picture — fewer providers, longer drives.
Telemedicine evens it out. A licensed physician reviews your case from Raleigh to Murphy.
What telemedicine can do
- Review of your medical history by a licensed physician
- Determination of whether a weight management program is appropriate for you
- Lab orders through Quest or Labcorp when the physician considers them necessary
- Dose adjustments and follow-up during the program
- Shipping from a licensed pharmacy to your home
What it CANNOT do
This matters as much as the list above:
- An emergency. Chest pain, trouble breathing, confusion — that is 911, today, not an online consult.
- A physical exam. Some things need hands.
- Replace your primary care physician. This is a complement, not a substitute.
How it works, step by step
- 1. You choose your program and start. You create an account and complete a medical form online. It takes a few minutes.
- 2. A licensed physician reviews your case — habits, stress, sleep and medical history.
- 3. If they consider it necessary, they order labs. Labs are not automatic and not required for everyone. The physician decides.
- 4. If treatment is appropriate, a licensed pharmacy ships it to your door. Discreetly. Most people receive their first order within a week.
- 5. Follow-up. Dose adjustments when needed, and support for as long as your program runs.
In some states a brief telehealth appointment may be required before a prescription is issued, at no additional cost.
No waiting rooms
You do not drive down the mountain for a follow-up.
You complete the form when you can — at night, on a Sunday, on your break — and a licensed physician reviews it, usually within one business day.
